Old goldmining track, with water race, old stone huts, and a well benched track. A three hour run to the main divide, at Foster’s Hut, from the Wakamarina road end. Nice.

The local bus from Rotorua to Murupara runs twice a week. From there I hitched! Thanks to Joe, James and Frank for taking me through State Highway 38, with 100+km of unsealed, winding road.
