Old goldmining track, with water race, old stone huts, and a well benched track. A three hour run to the main divide, at Foster’s Hut, from the Wakamarina road end. Nice.

A tripe to Maud Island, to sniff Kakapo feathers and look at giant wetas, frogs and skinks. The gun emplacement was impressive, with rangefinder. So was the monster pittosporum nearby.
